Naples has had a huge cultural impact on the world. You've probably heard of Naples' rich history and its important role in Renaissance art. But it is the art of another kind that makes this Italian city perhaps its biggest influence on the world — tailoring.

Did you know that Neapolitan tailors have become a legend over the years? That's because they supposedly know so well about body morphology that they can produce a perfectly fitting suit in fewer tries than is considered traditional. Perhaps it is because the roots of today's Neapolitan tailoring go back almost 700 years, to the founding of Italy's oldest tailoring association in the 14th century, the Confraternita dell'arte dei Giubbonai e Cositori (Brotherhood of Jacket Makers and Tailors).

Although various Italian regions have developed their own interpretation of the style over the years, the Neapolitan tailoring style remains the most well-known. It is characterized by unique features, such as the famous spalla camicia or the soft shoulders, the minimal lining and the barchetta or the patch pockets. Some of these features were created to suit the mild climate of the city of Naples, others arose from the need to give free rein to body movements in order to give wearers the opportunity to gesture freely, as Italians, and especially Neapolitans, usually do. All this makes the Neapolitan style unique and special, the epitome of Italian elegance and taste, and thanks to Atelier Verto, you too can now discover and enjoy it in your everyday life, wherever you are.

The turning point

At Atelier Verto, we strive to improve your life through your wardrobe by designing every piece to be conscious, useful and enjoyable. We work with the best that nature has to offer and only use high-quality materials such as: vicuña, cashmere, silk, wool, linen and cotton from traditional Italian suppliers. Each piece of clothing requires around 70 hours of manual work by the skilled hands of our tailors, who carry out every single production step with love and passion, drawing on craftsmanship and artisanal production methods.

We are particularly proud of our measurement process, which enables us to achieve the perfect fit in just a few tests. After that, all we have to do is test all of your orders once and for all your orders, at a time and location of your choice.
